Climate change is something that is very real, and something that so many people are denying. The Earth's climate has changed throughout history. In the last 650,000 years, there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat. Most of these climate changes are attributed to very small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives. Global average surface temperature has increased by 0.8 degrees Celsius since 1850. The oceans heat level has risen substantially since 1960, along with a rise in sea level, due to the melting of glaciers. There is decreasing snow and ice coverage in the northern hemisphere, and a decline of sea ice in the Arctic. Climate change is caused by the release of greenhouse gasses into the air. The gasses that contribute to the Greenhouse effect are Water Vapor, Nitrous Oxide, Carbon Dioxide, and methane. If this goes unchecked, then further warming of 2.6 degrees Celsius to 4.8 Celsius will be expected until the end of the century.
