In December of 1791, the Second Amendment was ratified for the United States Constitution. Ever since our country was founded, the people were trusted to do the right thing for the well being of the United States. The second amendment helps deliver this trust into a way of feeling safe and powerful against the government. Do we really want this freedom and trust to go?
The Second Amendment was created to abolish fear and make the people feel like they have some power, but has also proved to be useful against other harmful citizens. It states that “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”. This basically means that people have the right to own arms for safety. This is still relevant today and this type of trust within the United States should be kept and preserved. Therefore, the Second Amendment should be kept and interpreted the way it was when the Constitution was made; It is perfectly just and fundamental.
Gun Control- Second Amendment

While there is a massive issue with mass shootings and gun violence, taking away all guns is not fair to law abiding citizens. While I can understand how other people interpret the Second Amendment as being outdated and not relevant, abolishing it is removing the entire thing it was put in place to protect. While a better vetting process for purchases can be added to laws, I believe no change should be made to the amendment itself. I also understand how guns are too easy to buy, which should be considered to change. I am more on Cruz's side of the gun control debate, bringing it back to the current election.
Like stated before, this amendment is perfectly just and fundamental, as shown in America's freedom and liberty rich history. Guns should be available to citizens to protect our freedom and safety in our country. After all, don't we want to be known and act as a free country?!
