Gun Control

Gun Control has been a long debated topic among the Texas community, as well as other places in America. There are many people who say that people should be allowed to purchase and carry around firearms for safety, but the other side is people saying that guns shouldn't just be sold to anyone and carried around like they don't matter and aren't dangerous weapons. In recent years, there has been a rise in the amount of school shootings that there have been in various places in the country. This ties us around to mental health and if people should be required to have tests on mental health before purchasing a firearm. The law is that it is illegal to allow a person under the age of 16 to be able to possess a firearm that is readily dischargeable, Recently, people have been trying to make it so that the age limit is 18 and that it would be illegal no matter if the gun was loaded or not. (The Santa Fe shooter was 17). The law doesn't require that people use gun safety locks or safety triggers or even separate storages for ammunition, so people who have successfully purchased a gun would be able to treat it pretty much as they wish on their own property. The government has tried to increase awareness by forcing gun dealers to highlight signs saying that the law is real and people need to follow the rules or they will be punished. its still an ongoing topic that many people in Texas are debating about and almost everyone has opinions to themselves.
