Gun Control

Gun control is a big issue that is being discussed a lot in America. There are some people that believe we need to have stricter laws on gun control and that we should have a ban on specific types of guns. Other people believe that banning guns will not help with gun violence and that people having guns can lower the amount of crime. People that are for gun control want to have stricter requirements to purchase a gun. They think there needs to be stricter background checks to ensure the person purchasing the gun has no history with crime or mental illness to ensure that the gun is used responsibly. Other supporters of gun control think we need to have a complete ban on guns like the AR-15 because they have been the weapon most used for mass shootings. The ban would restrict the manufacturing and purchase of weapons like the AR-15 that are semi automatic and can fire more that ten rounds before reloading. The people that do not support the ban of guns say that people have a right to own guns and that guns lower the amount of possible crime because a person is less likely to be robed if they are carrying a gun. The government is trying to help with the issue by raising awareness on gun control and getting people more involved in working to stop gun violence. The issue is a big topic for discussion and it will probably take many debates to come to a solution.
