Election Issue (Womens Rights) -- Emily Wilburn

Women's Rights:

With the election coming up and the fight between Cruz and O'Rourke for Senate, there is a lot on the line regarding women's rights. Both have a very different standpoint on the topic.
On September 16th, 2015, Cruz stated the following: "The Planned Parenthood videos are horrifying. I encourage every American to watch them. Seeing Planned Parenthood heartlessly bartering and selling the body parts of human beings, and then ask yourself, "are these my values?" Planned Parenthood essentially confesses to multiple felonies. It is a felony with ten years' jail term to sell the body parts of unborn children for profit. That's what these videos. We shouldn't spend $500 million of taxpayer money to fund an ongoing criminal enterprise."
All he is proving is how uninformed he is on the topic, so why vote for him? He believes Planned Parenthood sells parts of unborn children, he allowed a vote to end their funding, he prosecutes them for criminal violations, he banned taxpayer funding of abortion & partial birth abortion, allowed companies to deny insuring birth control, and much, much more. Planned Parenthood is an amazing organization that offers many services, while they do offer abortions, they have so many other services for the well being of not just women, but also men. Planned Parenthood provides affordable healthcare that is based on your income, they assist in family planning, and support members of the LGBTQ+ community! How could any human do so much bad to a place that does so much good?
On the other hand of the election, Beto promises to take the necessary steps in protecting and improving women's healthcare. If elected he will ensure that a woman’s right to choose is not compromised by limited access to safe and legal abortion services or family planning help, expand Medicaid and funding family planning centers in order to prevent another mother dying needlessly due to complications before or after childbirth, support policies that guarantee a woman’s access to birth control and emergency contraception, protect the Title X Family Planning Program that ensures millions of low-income Americans can afford access to reproductive health services, such as cervical and breast cancer screenings and well-woman exams.
While I think its very clear where I stand on this point, I feel that others need to recognize the changes that need to be made, do research of their own and not 100% believe what candidates are telling them (because as seen above -- some are very uneducated on topics.), and vote accordingly. Too many vote solely off of their party, and not for the well being of others.
