Political Views- Anna Siegel
As far as how and where I have grown up so far and how I was raised politically, I consider myself quite lucky. Growing up in an upper-middle class family, my political views have never involved financials as much as they involve things such as human rights. I don't believe I have the right to form a political opinion that involves things dictating financials, as that isn't necessarily something I need to be too concerned about as a freshman in high school. Similarly to family income, my level of education dosen't necessarily vary my political beliefs. As of right now, I want to say that if I was older than I would have the same opinions as I do now, because I trust my parents and their views. However, there is no way to be sure, as I have been introduced to a very slim fraction of the political spectrum. When I was younger, I grew up in a very small, sheltered, democratic town in Toledo, Ohio. Moving to the larger, much more rural and republican city of Houston, Texas, really changed the way that I thought about politics, opening my eyes to issues I didn't even know existed. As far as religion, being Jewish hasn't necessarily varied my political views. Judaism is a religion is one that is generally quite accepting, and isn't too harshly discriminated against, either. However, (and the same thing applies to race), I have never had to worry since I am not oppressed in any way, but I do support equal rights for those who are. The biggest variable to my political opinions is my gender. I do feel I fit under the definition of a feminist, and my beliefs often lean towards which is the most benifical, (or least detrimental), towards women.
