Political Views

The six categories on the chart in the reading all shape our political views and standing in one way or another. Level of education affects our political views, because without a good education, you might not be able to get a good job, or might not be able to understand many political concepts. Of course I'm only in high school, but I do hope to go through college and grad school as well. If I have that kind of education, then odds are I would be well educated, and know what I'm talking about when it comes to politics.
Level of income I would say might be one of the most important of the six categories which determine political views. My family is in the upper-middle class and we have pretty liberal views, while someone who is really rich or owns a company might be more conservative because they want to make more money. On the flip side, someone who is low income may have stronger opinions on the government aiding lower income neighborhoods and families than someone who isn't living in poverty. I feel like this would also tie into your level of education, because poor people wouldn't be able to a afford higher education such as college, thus limiting their job options and keeping them in poverty.
I feel that the region of the country you live in is not as important as some of the other ones, but is still prevalent and more deep rooted in history; with southern states being more conservative and northern states being more liberal. While I do live in Texas, My family and I have liberal views, which is why I feel that the region you live in isn't always the most important factor. If my family lived in a liberal place like California, or (god forbid) a conservative place like Alabama, our political views wouldn't change. The only thing that would change would be the people around us may be more liberal or conservative than they are here.
Personally, I feel like your racial group isn't always that important, but I do feel like it does matter a lot. From experience, I feel people who belong to minority racial groups, would typically support things that would help benefit other minorities, help lower income neighborhoods, or help further equality. However, even if I was entirely white, I don't feel like I wouldn't support doing such things because of the way I was raised.
With a very large portion of the population being religious, I also think that this is one of the most important ones in our time. With issues such as gay marriage and abortion being prevalent issues, I feel like religion would be a very big thing when determining ones political views. I do feel like I might not really know what I'm talking about when it comes to religion, as I'm not religious. However, even if I was religious, I'm pretty sure that I would still have many of the same views I currently have on religious based issues due a number of other factors such as my sexual orientation.
I think that ones sex isn't normally a big thing when determining your political views, but I do think that it may determine your views on some things. According to the chart in the reading, more women support legal abortions than men, and for obvious reasons. Women are obviously going to want to support something that involves their personal freedoms as a woman. While I can't fully relate to many gender equality issues that are currently relevant because I'm a guy, that doesn't mean I can't support things like legal abortions and equal pay.
