A person's political views depend on many different things, but the main categories are education, family income, region of U.S, racial group, religion, and gender. I am currently in high school, so my views are probably different than someone in college or someone in middle school. I also go to a very privileged high school, so someone from a public high school that is not funded as well, might have a different political stance than me, which also ties into income level. I also think that people who did not get good education, may not really know where they stand politically, because they were never educated about politics. Education about politics is extreemly important, because people need to know what is happening in their nation, and they need to know where they stand. Someone's income level is one of the main factors of what their political views are. My family is middle class, and both my parent work. There are millions of Americans who can’t afford health care and are deprived of this basic right, and we believe that the government should provides social support for people in poverty. People who don't believe in free health care for the underprivileged are mostly upper class, because it won't benefit them at all. Where you live in the United States can heavily affect your political views. If you live in a more rural area, you are probably influenced by conservative values, and big cities are likely to have more liberals. I live in the West South Central region of the U.S. This area is more conservative, while somewhere more north is mostly liberal. Race is also a huge factor. If you are discriminated against, it can totally affect where you stand politically. For instants if you are african american, you will probably advocate for the black lives matter movement, where as many white people oppose this movement. Different religions have different political views. For instance catholics are against homosexuals and gay marriage. Catholicism is therefore a mostly conservative religion, because liberals support gay rights and marriage. I am methodist, and I am not really sure where methodists stand politically. Sex has a huge impact on not just your political values, but also your views in general. Most males do not support feminism, which is liberal, because they are not females, and it is hard to understand the discrimination when you are not being discriminated against.
I have not really thought about my views on politics that much, but I would say that my parents influence my views a lot. Both of my parents are liberal, so I have adapted most of their values. I believe in gay rights and gay marriage, because I think that just because someone is attracted to their own gender doesn't mean that they should be discriminated against or treated differently. I also believe in abortion and free or low cost health care. I know that as I get older and as I get more experience my views will change. Conservatives and liberals have changed a lot since the two parties were created, and the nation is constantly changing. Who knows how the different parties will change in the future.
