Taxes
Taxes have always been a point of debate because it effects everyone around the country. It's very hard to find a common ground in which people agree on tax prices, tax cuts and things alike because of how many different people it effects. Not only does the state have to balance how much to tax people, but also where to allocate the money they receive. Beto for example, wants to put an increased tax on oil and gas purchases. While this would have a good effect on the local government, it would have an impact on many families because they'd have to pay more money for gas.
Ted Cruz also has very strong beliefs on taxes and he had a very large part in passing the Tax Bill passed last January. He says that he is a big believer in helping out the middle class and he attempted to do this within that bill by allowing families to put money into a 529 college plan and use it for private high school. His goal for the bill was to make those schools more affordable for families, specifically middle class families, which shows his drive to make it cheaper.
Beto, according to his website, has very strong beliefs in helping out small businesses and making sure that the wealthy pay "their fair share". He doesn't want the tax codes to be solely for large corporations, but for all the families and workers. He wants to achieve financial equality and he doesn't want large corporations to get tax breaks. He'd rather have small businesses receive the relief as opposed to the large companies that don't need it.
