Toy Op-ed Reflection

Adrian Perez

The separation of toys for boys and girls have only recently came around. With all the children open to the factor as soon as they are born. Many children but the time they start playing with toys that are specified to them. I did some more research about this topic, this one family started a record of there children playing with toys. From the start they noticed that they know how to specify which toy was meant for boys and which for girls. During the seminar, we talked about many different ideas. One being the Nerf toy. From the start all the commercials for near were made mainly for boys. Everything about nerf in that time was for boys. Girls and boys both thought that they were meant only for boys and if a girl used it, it will be weird. Only til about three years ago, that completely changed, they now have a nerf rebel. That is now only for girls, just like the "boys" nerf, the commercials and everything about it is related to only girls. Not to rude, but when we were asked to look up toys that we used as a kid and the things that I looked up were all boys toys.Maybe some of the girls looked up toys for girls. one of the later topics that was also an issue was the fact that if you were playing with toys from kids of the opposite sex, it would make you look weird. For girls, they would think they were tomboys. If you were a boy playing with girls toys you would be considered gay, it is harsh but it is how the world works. I believe we could change this all if boys and girls toys would just combine. But the companies making these toys are making so much more money from the two separate brands. The main being Hasbro and Mattel. They would not want to change it but I believe we could if we work together and unit.
