Toy Op-ed Reflection

In terms of the debate against gendered toys, I fall under the belief that they are not a problem, and should just be left to burn themselves out. Most people believe that gender-neutral toys are the future and while that may be true I don't think that means that we should get rid of the old and move in with the new. Let nature take its course and have the gendered toys finish naturally. In terms of history for both of these, however, toys used to be all gender neutral, teddy bears and Lincoln Logs, but then the grand advertising apocalypse. With the dawn of the age of advertising, companies found it difficult to advertise to a wide range of kids, so they decided to focus in on one section of them and get success from there. The first thing that divided kids was gender, this led to the first gendered toys. This didn't exactly spawn gender stereotypes, but it certainly built off of them. I think that gendered toys aren't an issue due to the fact that there is very little stopping people from enjoying the other toy. I don't get why people are so worked up about something as simple as a toy being blue or pink.
