Brazil's Election
So if we are going to talk about a place that has recently or is going to have a election, the perfect place to talk about is Brazil. General elections were held in Brazil on October 7 2018 to elect the President, Vice President and the National Congress. Elections for State Governors and Vice Governors, State legislative Assemblies and Federal District Legislative Chambers were held at the same time. Although Brazil may seem nice, they are still recovering from a massive corruption Scandal. The scandal involved a record amount of the country's political representatives which are now facing criminal cases. So even though there was this massive scandal Brazil's favorite politician is as well as everyone involved in this scandal in jail. Even the current front runner is recovering from near fatal stabbing. The upcoming presidential election is expected to be the most popularized vote ever since Brazil's return to democracy three decades ago. The people of Brazil have experienced many different scandals and corruption in the run up to Sundays vote. The Scandals have created a widespread distrust among the Brazilian Electorate, with just days to go in what some consider the most important vote in the country's history. On Sunday the people of Brazil will have 13 candidates to choose to vote for. But if no candidate wins majority vote(as most external observers expect.) The two candidate with the most votes will face off on October 28 for a run-off vote. Although their are many candidates running for office, there is one person who will not be. Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will not be running for re-election due to his imprisonment after the massive scandal that took place in April. That makes him ineligible to run again. So yeah, that is Brazil's current state of elections.
