Why Do We Do What We Do?

                                   By Gabriel Han

We interact with people the way we do on an everyday basis. We all have different ways. But why do we interact with people the way we do instead of only doing things that benefit us? Because of the way humans are a social species, the way we act with other people is shaped into certain ways. But the way we act while alone is also shaped. What you do is always shaped by the fact that there are standards in human society to what one should and shouldn't do, and those standards influence everything we do. The standards set are very normal to us, but could be strange to another society, so sociology studies this. The reason they study these standards instead of just saying that that's just the way that it should be is because they have seen other cultures, and know that what we do is not just how all humans function. As you go about today, think about all the things you do.
