Disease in the Overthrow of the Inca

How Disease Played a Role in the Overthrow of the Inca

Disease played a somewhat significant role in the overthrow of the Inca. Some of the diseases passed from the Europeans to the Incas were influenza, smallpox, measles, bubonic plague, and typhus. According to Diamond, the Europeans had a "conciderable immunity" to these diseases, and that makes sense because they were living in big cities. In these big cities, the abovementioned diseases are going from person to person, and lots of people are dying. Because of this, each generation becomes more and more immune to the diseases because not only are they exposed to it, but they are  getting the "immunity genes" from their parents. The Native Americans were not immune to these diseases becasue I guess they had never experienced them, and so when the Europeans came, the diseases spread really quickly. These diseases travelled faster than the Europeans themselves did, and it killed 95% of the population.
