Business Idea

Perjhing Mardani February 28, 2019 A business I would start would be a hoverboard rental service. Although, I would have made this a business in 2016, not now. When I was younger, and hoverboards were a craze, I wanted one eagerly. And before I bought my own, which are very expensive. I was sad that I was not able to ride them like others on social media. My business would be renting out a hoverboard to someone for 25.00 an hour. Which is reasonable, in my opinion. The transaction would be digital so it is easier for the customer, and more efficient. I would require a safety form to be filled out incase of a injury. Also a helmet will be required to be worn by the customer. I think that this would be a fun invention for kids and teens!

Economic Issue

Perjhing Mardani February 13, 2019 IHSS Mr. David Roddy Global warming is a very large issue we have in our world. I feel that being aware of our impact on the earth and being educated on global warming is very important. Texas is number 1 in using solar energy, but is number 10 in solar energy production due to a lack of resources. Global warming will soon lead to severe tragedies for Texas. Droughts, heat waves, and floods are a few problems that we are facing due to global warming. Us humans contribute to global warming in several ways. Burning fossil fuels, such as coal and gas to power our cars. Deforestation, humans clear forests to build urban architecture. Plants play an important role in our ecosystem. They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Farming as well, livestock produces a methane gas which is a greenhouse gas. Methane contributes to global warming. We can prevent global warming from accelerating in many ways. Firstly, we can reduce the amount of coal an...

The Problem with School Funding

Schools can show you the fundamentals of a society. The future depends on today’s children and what they are provided with. Schools will build the foundations of their values and experiences especially if it’s the place where they spend most of their childhood. Article Analysis  The rules regulating the school funding system in the U.S. are very ambiguous. The federal laws aren’t very specific about how schools should be paid and if certain methods of attaining that money are illegal or not. So the problem is passed onto the state and continues to stay unresolved. The issue is not that people don't want to make changes. There are clearly many people who don't believe in the current system and they are deeply affected by the outcome, but the government isn't making much of an effort to resolve this national situation. More money is put into other places and funding for schools becomes more limited. When the government chooses not to invest more in public schools, this s...

The NBA's Business Model

Charlie McGill Dr. Roddy IHSS 2.1.19 The NBA’s Business Model The article that I read was about the NBA, specifically how the NBA makes money. First, the article talked about something they called BRI, or basketball related income. Basketball related income is any income that falls under the category of basketball: ticket purchases, concessions, TV deals, and merchandising. Not included in BRI is income collected through proceeds for expansion teams, fines collected throughout the season, and revenue sharing between teams. Although TV viewership has steadily declined over the past few years, live sports have generally remained safe, which is causing TV networks to spend huge amounts of money to air NBA games through TV deals. These deals are one of the main ways in which the NBA makes its money. Recently in early 2016, ESPN and Turner Sports signed a 9 year, $24 billion dollar deal. That translates to $2.6 billion dollars annually. Other important ways the NBA makes mone...
