Thoughts of Engagement

The topic I chose was Illegal Immigration and Immigration in general. I chose this because I feel that as an expanding country, and with our current president Donald Trump, we need to help those in need, and with many threats of a wall being built, we need to address this as soon as possible to help those people. I can only imagine the struggles that immigrants have to face every day so I would love to be able to be the voice for those people. Especially the struggles for the people who had to come here in the most dangerous ways.
My action plan to be able to help people, would be to contact many different organization that is helping with Immigration, and give them a survey asking questions like, “What the organization as a whole do?” and “How have yall really benefited?”. With these questions, we will share it to the class. As well, we will ask what we can do to be able to help, other than compiling data. With calling people who are helping immigrants, we will also call people who are against helping them. My partner and I have found organizations that deport/expose illegal immigrants. We will ask mainly questions about why they do what they do, and what motivates them to do it.  After all that we compile both data, and share that with the class. We may also go volunteer with different organizations but that may not fit our agenda. I am very passionate about this topic so anyway I can help I will.

Ashwin Dev Mr. Roddy IHSS 24 October 2018 Where Voting Matters - El Salvador The Salvadoran presidential elections are going to be held on February 4, 2019 with a second round in March if no candidate wins an outright majority. El Salvador has a limit for a single 5-year term which means that the current president,  Sánchez Cerén  will not be able to run for this election. This election is different from most in the past due to the new political parties law, which says that a single candidate from each party must be chosen before the date of the election. Sharing Economy- Luke

Luke Kirchner       After much thinking, I have realized that sharing economies can be created from almost anything. I decided to make create something about sharing home decor. This would include things like paintings, ornaments and other small things to decorate your house. One challenging thing that would need to be sorted out, would be the value of the objects. Art is very subjective and can be valued very differently by other people. The market would have to establish it self to truly assign a price to different pieces. This would be a great way to make some money off of pieces of art that usually aren't seen and this would allow the renter to spruce up their house.       An app would be used to connect people and would ask for necessary information.
