Thoughts On Engagement - Pet Overpopulation

For all the contacts I picked out, I made sure that they were actively working on, or I could persuade them to work on, the issue of spay/neuter treatments. I believe that the best way to stop the issue of pet overpopulation is through spay/neuter treatments, specifically mandating these operations, and/or making them easier for lower income communities to have access to. That is how I’ll make a difference; I want to use my government contact to try and get laws passed that would force pet owners to neuter their pet, and I also want to work with organizations that are already making it easier for poorer people to get spay/neuter treatments, as they do great work.

Now, I am aware that getting laws passed is a much harder process than writing an email, and to stay realistic I’m not expecting to mandate spay/neuter treatments. I want Sylvester Turner to think about the issue, if just that happens it’s a win in my book. Maybe in the future my email will influence laws mandating spay/neuter treatments. The most I can realistically ask for from Sylvester Turner is if he gets a few city officials to propose laws that support my cause. That’s a long shot, but it’s possible. With all my other contacts, I would like to volunteer at events in which they’re sponsoring, as by doing that I am helping with their cause and mine. I will be happy anyway in which I can make a difference, however, the more good I can do the happier I will be.
