Thoughts on Engagement- Luke

After extensively researching my topic, robots in the workforce, I have determined that robots themselves are not entirely the problem. Robots working on monotonous jobs, possibly such as jobs in factories, will most likely replace humans. But this can be combated by more education and possibly different education. With the rise of technology, many more STEM jobs could be created, maybe to even help with robot development. At least in this period of time, autonomous systems do not have the ability to think creatively yet, so as long as we put more of a focus on jobs that require more thinking, development could rise, with the help of robots. Yes, there is the short term job loss, but we need to be forward thinking.

By alerting people about possibly losing their jobs in 5 years, they have time to decide how to learn skills that will become more sought after in the future. I could take part is some of this, maybe by starting an Instagram page or some other social media platform. By talking to people who develop autonomous driving technology, I can get more insight into how I can make a change (If needed at all). While in no way do I have the ability to make any real change, I can start by thinking of things on a small, local scale. Because major robot changes are taking place in factories, by huge companies, there is not much I can do.
