A Black Officer Shoots A Unarmed White Women

Throughout the years there has been the issue of race within police departments and court cases. For example, if a white officer shot a black man or women, the court and jury would be more sympathetic for the officer, but this situation it is the opposite. In Minneapolis, black cop, Mohamed Noor, shot a Caucasian woman, Justine Ruszczyk. There has been much criticism and gossip involving this case. The main issue is that, when Noor was found guilty and was facing +25 years in jail, is that conviction hypocritical or justice.
One night, Justine called 911 after she heard what sounded like a women in distress. Noor and his partner showed up to scout out the area. During this time, while in his car, Justine came up to his window when he heard a bang (like a gunshot), this caused him to shoot one shot out his window, killing Justine in the process. During this case, it was seen how many people were quick to take Justine's side and sympathize with her, which is a luxury that many black victims, of the same crime, do not share. This is just one of the hypocrisies that seem to be noticed with this case.
Another case, with a white officer shooting a black male, was charged with manslaughter but was released of all charges after saying he feared for his life. After the verdict was passed, a Minneapolis community organizer, Mustafa Diriye, said "I fear for my life. That's what all white cops get away with. That only works for white cops. They can fear for their life. But if your black, no, no you cannot be fearful."
This is a very important article, showing the hypocrisy and controversial issues that is created in every day life. I think that the cop should've been given more benefit of the doubt and shown mercy, due to the fact that he did not mean to and he has a perfectly logical reason to have a misfire. Although, this misfire did end up killing someone, this is not something new. This has happened with multiple white cops, but they had been given leniency due to the jury and judges spinning the situation to benefit the cop with no regard for the victim. The press is doing very good at covering all angels of this story, such as: the verdict, peoples thoughts about the verdict as well as the situation, and what people think about the racial hypocrisy presented within this case. These kinds of issues are very hard to judge on, because you can't have any firm scientific evidence about racial favoritism with too many factors changing. However, you can observe that much leniency is had with the white cops, especially with the 'I fear for my life' line working. That is a sad way to avoid a punishment. It's like if a kid said he'll die without his X-box. Stupid. This is a very important article that I highly recommend to read. It is also very recent, as in within the last two or three months.
