The LGBT community has already been persecuted for centuries, and it took America year to legalize same sex marriage, but one of the many problems LGBT people are facing is employment discrimination. Sexual orientation and gender identity is still being used as an excuse to fire and employee in 28 states, that said we’ve come far but not far enough since this is a problem. There was an equality act introduced in 2015 that would hopefully fix all of this and yet another just this year on March 13, the bill prohibits discrimination against sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity in public facilities, funding, employment, credit, education, housing, and the jury system. This bill also prohibits a person from being denied access to shared facilities based on that person's sexual orientation, or gender identity. The Equality Act of 2019 will prohibit employers from discriminating against their LGBT employees so the US is getting there.
