Racial and Misogynistic Slurs in New Jersey

Racism has been a huge problem in many countries, but in the United States primarily. It has been 55 years since the Civil Rights Act was signed, but we still are seeing over many different occasions, people who still discriminate colored people. In the most recent article I could find, a New Jersy police Director James Cosgrove, has decided to resign based on an inquiry found where he and his men would use racist and misogynistic slurs to other people. Now, he has been serving New Jersey since the 1990s, but that is still no excuse for when it comes to saying what he said. With Elizabeth, New Jersey being one of the most diverse cities, with about 80% of the population being Hispanic or African American. You could only imagine how the city reacted. Mr. Cosgrove had been asked to be removed from office immediately by many officials, but he left on his own time. For about the two months this investigation was live, the Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, did not release any of the files where people got their information, but it was concluded that he would use many of these terms. After the two months, Mr. Bollwage accepted Mr. Cosgrove's resignation. But within that time, many people were furious since Mr. Cosgrove was a political appointee, he could only have been removed by the cities mayor, which in time it did happen. But within that time, Mayor Bollwage was not complacent, attacking the news in a Twitter post, where he called the inquiry a "character assassination". This furthermore, continued the ongoing tension between the city police and the people of color. Many different news media were stating that this needed to be addressed, if not the ongoing problem would continue. In the end, he retired from the police department and was planning a mayorally for Mayor Bollwage, but it has been said to believe, this was not the only problem Director Cosgrove was involved in. That is for another blog.
My personal opinion is that is was for the best for him to resign. This goes to show, many of the things we believe won't hurt our future, come back to haunt us in the end. I am 100% with the city of New Jersey, but I am glad this turned out great.
