We Breathe Plastic

Scientists found that microplastic can be measured in our air. Even in remote mountainous locations, it is as if plastic was raining from the sky. They even found that higher concentrations of airborne microplastic exist indoors. These pieces of plastic individually are too small for us to see but they can have serious effects on our health. These fine, sharp particles are small enough to enter our lungs and get lodged in lung tissue. This type of exposure has been linked to asthma, heart attacks and memory impairment. While there isn’t technology to detect it yet, scientists warn that nanoplastics are even more prevalent and damaging to our health as they have a different chemical composition.
I thought this article was a frightening look at how plastic is affecting us and our ecosystem.
The idea that there’s enough plastic in our atmosphere to actively damage your health (even in the most remote locations) is terrifying.
